Dr. Carey A. Patrick earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston. She is active in the American Optometric Association, Pediatric and Binocular Vision Council, and the AOA Cornea and Contact Lens Specialty Section. Dr. Patrick currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Optometric Association, Is Chair of the TOA Public Health Committee where she cordinates statewide participation of doctors in programs for InfantSEE, VisionUSA, Glaucoma, Diabetes, Childrens Vision and Low Vision Recovery and is President-Elect of the Northeast Texas Optometric Association.
As a participating provider for InfantSEE, Dr. Patrick actively promotes infant vision care and vision development awareness, www.InfantSEE.org. She reaches out to our Collin County community by providing several professional services for free through VisionUSA, (www.aoa.org/x5607.xml) the national public outreach program for better eye health and visioncare for underserved citizens.
Dr. Patrick won national recognition as the Outstanding Graduate Professional for her research and treatment of Aniseikonia in 2002. In 2003, her UHCO professors and peers nominated Dr. Patrick for Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry, the professional organization which recognizes outstanding contributors to optometry and the vision care profession.
The Allen Lion's Club works with Dr. Patrick to provide professional services in the Club's mobile eye clinic every year.
In our community, Dr. Patrick is active in Girl Scouts, Lovejoy High School Booster Clubs, Texas Tech Parents, Dallas Waves Alumni, and the local American Business Women's Association. She is a Founding Member of the Fairview Economic Council and presently serves on the Board of Directors for the Allen Chamber of Commerce. For eight years, she danced in the half-time show at the Houston Rockets NBA basketball game. Her performances there were dedicated in charitable support of the SGK Breast Cancer Research Foundation. She and her family moved from Houston to Fairview in 2007.
Dr. Shannon O'Hare
Dr. Shannon O’Hare received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. She then obtained her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston. Dr. O’Hare is a therapeutic optometrist and certified glaucoma specialist. She has received training in primary care, contact lenses, ocular pathology, and neuro-ophthalmology. For the last eight years she has practiced in the Dallas area. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, and the Dallas County Optometric Society.
